HOLLAND, MI (April 29, 2009) -- If
you were to ask Playboy Mazda MX-5 Cup teammates, Marc Miller and Jeff Mosing,
what they have most in common, you would expect to hear that they both have an
undying passion for motorsports and live for the competition racing offers.
While those are both true, Marc and Jeff would tell you about something much
closer to their hearts, their race for autism.
Not only will Marc and Jeff be working together on the track for
a good result this weekend at “The Mitty” at Road Atlanta, they will also be
working together to raise funds and awareness for autism. Both racers are
fathers of a child with autism, giving them added motivation to promote
something that is near and dear to their hearts. Marc and Jeff have combined
their passion for racing and their love for their children by teaming up with www.racenowforautism.org, a website
that helps promote those who race for the cause and distributes funds to
charitable organizations that can help benefit families affected by
autism.
“This is a great opportunity for me
as both a father and a professional driver,” said Miller. “It isn’t often that I
can leave for a race weekend, but still feel like I am making a big impact in my
son’s life. Hopefully this effort can make an impact in many families lives as
well.”
“I am proud that I have the
opportunity to run the RaceNowForAutism.org car,” said Mosing. “It provides my
family with a sense of pride and purpose and I look forward to working with the
site to promote autism awareness throughout the year.”
Their goal is not to just help their
children’s future, but more importantly to help the sixty-seven children that
are diagnosed with autism each day. With efforts like Marc and Jeff’s and the
help of many others, a better life can be a reality for the ever-increasing
number of children with autism.
“With
insurance companies rarely, if ever, covering therapies or medical needs related
to autism spectrum disorder, there is a major need for support from the
community,” said Jacquelyn Miller, a RaceNowForAutism.org representative. “1 in
150 children are being diagnosed with autism and there are organizations out
there that provide much needed support, programs and therapies for families that
need it. The goal of racenowforautism.org is to help these families get what
they need.”
Facts about autism:
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is the
fastest growing developmental disability with a new diagnoses occurring every 20
minutes. Autism typically appears during the first three years of life and
affects a person’s ability to communicate and interact with others. There is no
known single cause for autism, but increased awareness and funding can help
families today.
